Our first "Featured Profile" is R David Bruce, President/CEO of Camp Rockmont  and the Executive Director of the Rockmont Alumni Association.

We will feature a different alumnus  every month or so, but RAA members have access to all of the alumni profiles in the database all of the time.

My Story Since Camp Professional speaker since 1988, spent 2001-2002 working for the Ponte Vedra Inn and club where I did leadership and customer service training to help the resort obtain the AAA Five Diamond Award. Moved from Florida to Maryville, TN (near Knoxville) where we homeschool our children, have adventures in the Smokies and water ski (but not enought for my liking!). Camp Memories

Funniest (I'll make up a VERY funny story soon!)

Faith Early mornings on the lake here and on Lake James

Hello Roundhouse Sloan, Mark Richardson, Jay Collins. Kirk McCaghren

Heroes David Bruce, Jon Brooks, Dan Davis - the usual suspects. Oh and Guy in the kitchen - he'd give me extra cookies for ski days!

My Favorite Camp Memory The fall after my last year leading the ski program, I had planned to propose to my wife Adele (a Merrimac counselor from 86-90. I called camp before I drove up from Florida to meet my soon-to-be fiancée. Hap happened to answer the phone (not sure how that happened!) and we brainstormed how I could get her out on the camp Ski Natique for the proposal. We arrived on a crystal clear blue sky October day looking for something fun to do when we "accidentally" bumped into Hap. I asked him if he wanted to join us for a hike and he replied with "I'd love to but David asked me to go down to the lake to run the boat one last time before winter." Then he paused and said "Do you think you two might be interested in helping me out?" Which led to us going solo then the eventually proposal and the rest is history ... 18 years... six kids and we still LOVE to ski.
